The reason the video isn't ranking isn't what you think
You published a forty-minute demo. The comments are kind. The watch time is fine. The blog still has nothing for the query the video already answered.
The usual diagnosis is the algorithm, the thumbnail, or “YouTube SEO.” Sometimes those are real. More often the page that could rank was never written. Search, LinkedIn, and newsletters still want text. The watch URL is a player, not an article.
Rewatching is not the bottleneck you named
If you run content at a B2B company, or you are the person at an agency who has to turn a client webinar into a post, you already know the workaround. You play the video at 1.5×. You pause. You type. You steal a quote by scrubbing. Show notes slip a week. The CMS draft stays empty because nobody wants to sit through it twice.
That method fails for a reason people mislabel as “we need more writers.” The writers were never the scarce part. The transcript was already there — captions on a public video, or the audio if captions are missing — and the team treated the file as entertainment to consume instead of a source to publish from.
I do not think a blog post that ignores the video will outrank a careful edit of what was said on camera. I think the opposite: the ranking problem is usually the missing text package, not a secret YouTube lever. Title, meta, Markdown body, chapters, FAQs, pull quotes, keywords. Grounded in the video. Ready for a CMS.
Captions-first is the honest path. When captions exist, use them. When they do not, understand the audio. Do not pretend a two-sentence description field is an article.
From a watch URL to a package
Paste public watch, Shorts, or youtu.be links. Optionally name the audience and the tone so the voice is not generic. Take the structured package: SEO title and description, slug, Markdown, short and long summaries, takeaways, chapters, FAQs, quotes with timestamps when they exist, keywords.
That is the YouTube Video to SEO Blog Post & Show Notes API. Run it on Apify.
You still edit. You still add the product screenshot the speaker pointed at. You do not start from a blank page after a second viewing.
Who this is for
If you repurpose webinars, product demos, and thought-leadership uploads into search pages, this is for you. If you owe show notes after every long upload and the notes are what slip, this is for you. If you wire YouTube into a newsletter or CMS on a schedule, this is for you.
If the video is private, unlisted behind a login, or you need a human essay that disagrees with the speaker, this is not that. Public videos. The article is grounded in what was said, not a contrarian column.
Prefer captions when you can; runs are faster and cheaper. Start with one or two URLs while you settle tone. Input, pricing, and the rest of the caveats live on the Apify Store README for this generator.
A comment thread is a different source than a monologue. Summarizing a Reddit discussion is the cousin job when the insight lives in replies, not in a single speaker. Both sit with the other posts on rainminer.
The unused transcript is the ranking gap
The cost of the old way is a strong video that never becomes a URL Google can quote in a paragraph. The captions sat under the player the whole time.
The reason it is not ranking is often that you never shipped the text. Paste the watch URL and take the draft.
